Today the first three groups presented interesting ideas about music, tropes and body building.
The Music Group covered such diverse music genres such as Reggae, Soca, Disco, Rock and Roll, Pop, Gospel, Andean and Jazz. The presenters were Byron, Bryan, Jakki, Nataly, Chloe, Manes and Stephanie. The gave us an overall summary of the different genres by playing music samples, pictures and explaining each one of them.
The Tropes Group introduced the class to different drama related scenarios where tropes are used, from theater to film to television. The presenters were John, Vivi and Carolina. A trope is a figurative or metaphorical use of a word or expression and the examples shared with the class illustrated the concept using scenes from film and TV shows.
The Body Building Group brought to our attention an art that is often downplayed. They introduced us to the origin and development of the physical art and were particularly thorough in the way they were able to condense a great deal of information into less than twenty minutes. Their explanation of body building through pictures of the pioneers was inspiring. Their allusion to the use of enhancing drugs in present professional body building is appreciated.

"Overall, they definitely engaged the audience as they either played music videos from YouTube or from their cellular devices of each genre. Jakki did a wonderful job informing us on Soca music, Stephanie studied Rock n Roll, which I could tell was an interest of hers, and Chloe brought a bit of humor during her section on Gospel music. I learned great information on tropes in art. Such a unique topic this was, but definitely fascinating. Iran, Frank, Osvaldo, and Luis pulled it together and presented an amazing performance on bodybuilding. It was clear that they all knew their information; as I could tell that not only did they study bodybuilding, but they also were physically engaged. The number of visual aids absolutely enhanced their presentation. They communicated ideas with enthusiasm and maintained good eye contact." Adaijah
"Music: their group presentation was based on different genres of music. I enjoyed how they added examples of the music in their presentations,Tropes: really funny examples. Entertaining. The Art of Body Building, lots of technical difficulties but they came through with the information. It was interesting because they started from the beginning of time with exercising, and they talked about showing strength. This presentation related to each of them in their own personal ways. Talked about Eugene Sandow, and how he realized that people were more focused on his figure than his strength. Father of Body Building, began competitions." Michelle
"I loved the first group's presentation. They were all so enthusiastic and well educated on each of their topics. I learned both about genres I know (rock and roll and disco) and genres I never knew about (soca/andean music). Each presenter's style was different from the past, which kept the presentation interesting. My favorite was the presentation on rock and roll and gospel. Over all, the project was well done, entertaining and educational. About Body Building, this presentation was on a very unconventional topic: bodybuilding. I feel like by choosing this topic, this group was able to talk about something they were well read on and enthusiastic about. Personally, I know nothing about body building, so this project was very education about something that isn't typically represented as an art." Carolina
"I really enjoyed this presentation. I think it was fun and entertaining while also being very informative on the different musical genres. This presentation, Body Building, was very informative and inspiring. after this presentation I feel that I have gained a lot of knowledge about the art of body building." Vivi
"The first presentation was very good and the group made it entertaining to learn about the genres of music.
The second group did an excellent job informing us of the tropes as well as making it funny. The third groups project is very informative and they show that they know a lot about the subject they are presenting." O. Dominguez
"Group number one, Music Genres, was pretty interesting, out of all the types of music they talked about, the best one that got my attention was disco. Since I was little my aunt used to play this genre every time she had to clean the house, I remember it was long time ago because she was pretty young, and still now every time she listens to that kind of music she loves it, and she is not the only one that was I didn’t agree when they said that it was famous and then it came down because is a repeated sounds! That kind of music is the best, the old type that teenagers still listen to. Group number two , Tropes, what got my attention is how every single thing has a meaning in television, in music and theatre. How just a song can play such a big part in a play saying all the feeling the main or the secondary character might be feeling." Ailyn

"For our first day of presentations, group one did Music as art. They used genres that many of us listen to but do not really know. The one that stuck to me was “soca” I had never listened to that before and that day I became educated about it. Group two did tropes; it was very informative. They had nice use of video examples. Group three did bodybuilding, they had good information." Ruby
