Installation Art: Readymades and Found Objects

Ups & Downs
Rubi Corporan & Salma Fernandez

This piece represents the ups and downs that we go through in life.
The different colors represent the various moods we may feel on any given day.

  Nature Wins
Byron Garcia, Jeffry Gonzalez, Nataly Zelaya

Our piece consists of four elements. We have a rock which represents earth. flowers, which represent mother nature, and a piece of plastic , which is indicative of man's carbon foot print on earth. The non-organic piece of plastic has bee taken over by mother nature. Essentially, the message we are trying to to convey is one that even after all the trash we humans pour on earth, nature will always prevail.

Wabisabi: Life Through Nature
Denise Ramos, Karla Ubeda, Tabitha Barsimantov

The pine cone means that nothing in life is perfect; the green leaf and the brown leaf mean birth and death; the rock and the flower represent a stepping stone in one's life.

The Throne
Joshua Fernandez, Andrew Arenal, Osvaldo Perez

The chair is painted in gold; gold represents wealth and royalty. The chair has a broken leg. The yellow represents the Spanish king. On it sits a yellow caution sign that reads: wet floor, piso mojado, as if describing the abdication of Spanish to English. Our message is that king is immortal.
All kings eventually fall.

It's Going to be Huge
Damian Navarro, Enrique Suarez

Our piece represents medicinal marijuana and how it is going to be huge. It symbolizes chance over time, and how herbal medicine has progressed over time.

Way of Life
Guillermo Herera, Regla Morell, Michelle Peguero

The newspaper base represents the reading aspect of life.  The painting represents the emotion and purpose of the artist.  The bottles of water, one plastic and one metal, and the plastic straw represent the foot prints of human life on earth. Our piece tries to create environmental awareness.

Anonymous 2018
Vivi Jimenez, Carolina Bello, John Martinez

This piece illustrates modern society. We are born into a world surrounded and enclosed by media. Media acts as both, our cradle and our coffin.

  1. This assignment truly brought out my classmates' creativity. To be able to gather random items and make art out it was pretty exciting. It was something new for all of us and it was another great experience.

  3. This was a great way to express ourselves and deliver a message without it being words by just using the first things we found in the classroom, hallway, or out by the building.
