Presentations: Organizing, debating, speaaking

Groups 6 and 7 during the organizational phase
of their presentation assignment.

The students continue working on their presentations. They continue working on the organizational part of it. Some groups believe they already have all the material they need and even state they are ready to present. I am intrigued about the kind of process they have followed to be ready so soon, when I know, based on experience, that it takes so much work to put a presentation together, when taken seriously. Thus, the time for the presentation needs to be re-scheduled for those who are ready to present before the day the presentation was originally scheduled.

I realize Humanities' students follow a different dynamic when it comes to organizing a presentation. Perhaps, the fact that is mainly based on an academic approach, as opposed to the experiential approach of other courses, suggests that the work can be done individually, instead of collectively, which is the whole purpose of presenting in groups. My methodology, in terms of presentations for the Humanities, will be re-evaluated for future courses.

Today, we focused on the importance of public speaking. A video has been shown highlighting "The The Art of Presentation" by Vignesh Valliyur, a 12th grader studying humanities at Delhi Public School Hyderabad.  In the video, he shares important views about presenting ideas and how presenting them relates to personality. As a student of the humanities, he is focused on how the world's leaders influence others through the presentation of their ideas, the elaboration of convincing arguments and the cultivation of their personalities..
